MAZ, a brilliant fashion, bridal, costume designer, and belly dancer, has re-discovered her love of fashion design!

Coming from the world of high fashion and behind the scenes of theatrical and dance productions, the world of belly dance has created for her the opportunity to sketch, design, and sew beautiful bellydance costumes. Her influences stem from personal designs from her past as a young fashion designer in New York, as well as inspiration from the current styles in Hollywood and Cairo, Egypt.

A while ago, Lotus found that her current costumes were lacking originality and adventure. Although she loved the bellydance designs, they were often repetitive because they were loved by other dancers too. Desiring more unique, one-of-a-kind look, Lotus challenged MAZ to design a line that reflected the themes of her dance choreographies. This quest led to a series of costumes that started the costuming business. Always on the hunt for unusual fabrics and unconventional beading supplies, MAZ's creations have gained noteriety and have even been featured on several performance DVDs.

As Lotus Niraja's mom and mentor, The NDC's personal costume designer, her couture has been often requested for its creativity, fabric selections, and detailed hand beading. Not only that, Lotus and Maz have a beautiful, loving, and strong relationship and Lotus considers each costume a treasure, made with unconditional love.

MAZ combines her life-long love of fashion and 35+ years of sewing experience to design and create unique, custom dancewear. If you have an idea, MAZ will help you sketch it out, put it on fabric and bring it to life! She has created bellydance, ballroom, wedding gowns, and special event dresses.

All costume sessions are now by appointment only. Please send an email to infondc@gmail.com with your request. All featured costumes, designed and created by MAZ, unless noted.
